Which lesson is right for you?
Under 16 years of age
Are you under 16? If so, please start by choosing the class that suits your age. During the classes, our teachers take into account differences in experience, development and ability.
The age mentioned is usually the minimum age. If you’re unsure which of the two groups to choose, the teacher can advise you on which lesson is most suitable.
Aged 16 and over
For dancers aged 16 and over, we operate a four-level system for many dance styles. The number of years’ dance experience serves as a guideline. Technique, body awareness, musicality, learning pace and experience within a specific dance style are also taken into account.
Level 1 · Beginner
Level 1 is suitable for beginners and dancers with little experience.
You’ll be introduced to the basic techniques, key dance terms, rhythm, posture, coordination and simple movement sequences. The teacher takes plenty of time to explain and build up the exercises.
Guideline: No experience to approximately 1 to 2 years’ dance experience.
Even if you already have experience in another style but are just starting out with this particular form of dance, Level 1 is often the best choice.
Level 2 · Intermediate
Level 2 is designed for dancers who have mastered the basics and are ready for a greater challenge.
The combinations become longer and more complex, and the tempo is faster. Greater emphasis is placed on technique, dynamics, musicality, use of space and performance. Participants are expected to recognise basic movements and be able to apply them reasonably independently.
Guideline: approximately 2 to 4 years’ relevant dance experience.
Level 3 · Advanced
Level 3 is suitable for experienced dancers with a solid technical foundation.
The lessons include more complex combinations, faster transitions and a greater focus on refinement, expression, strength, control and artistic execution. Exercises are learnt at a faster pace, and an active and independent approach to practice is expected.
Guideline: approximately 4 to 7 years’ relevant dance experience and regular training.
Level 4 · Masters
Level 4 is our highest level and is intended for very experienced dancers.
These classes focus on technical depth, precision, artistic quality, musicality and personal expressiveness. The pace is fast, and combinations can be long, physically demanding and technically challenging. Participants must be able to work independently, pick up new material quickly and have a well-developed sense of body awareness.
Guideline: at least 7 years’ relevant and intensive dance experience.
