Flamencodans is een temperamentvolle dansvorm vol passie, trots, melancholie en plezier. In de lessen komen de spetterende techniek (zoals het ritmisch voetenwerk en de sierlijke handbewegingen), choreografie èn kennis over de flamenco traditie aan bod. De Flamenco komt uit Andalusië in het zuiden van Spanje, maar je ziet en hoort er veel invloed van de gitanos (de Spaanse roma) in terug, en ook die van de Arabische en Indiase dans en muziek.

Kleding: Tijdens de flamenco lessen draag je een lange rok, aansluitende top en schoenen met een stevige hak (geen naaldhak). In overleg met de docent kun je een flamenco rok en –schoenen aanschaffen. Je haren draag je vast (bijvoorbeeld in een knot of staart).

Flamenco dance is a passionate form of dance full of character, pride, melancholy, and joy. In the classes, you will learn dazzling techniques (such as rhythmic footwork and graceful hand movements), choreography, and knowledge about the flamenco tradition. Flamenco originates from Andalusia in southern Spain, but it also reflects many influences from the Gitanos (Spanish Roma), as well as from Arab and Indian dance and music.

Clothing: During flamenco classes, you wear a long skirt, a fitted top, and shoes with a sturdy heel (not a stiletto). In consultation with the instructor, you can purchase a flamenco skirt and shoes. Your hair is worn up (for example, in a bun or ponytail).
