Flamencodans is een temperamentvolle dansvorm vol passie, trots, melancholie en plezier. In de lessen komen de spetterende techniek (zoals het ritmisch voetenwerk en de sierlijke handbewegingen), choreografie èn kennis over de flamenco traditie aan bod. De Flamenco is ontstaan uit de cultuur van de Andalusiërs en die van de gitanos (de Spaanse Roma). Het is een fascinerende kunstvorm, waarin zang, gitaar en dans samensmelten tot een zinderend geheel. Je vindt er invloeden uit verschillende culturen in terug, als de Indiase en Arabische. 

Kleding: Tijdens de flamenco lessen draag je een lange rok, aansluitende top en schoenen met een stevige hak (geen naaldhak). In overleg met de docent kun je een flamenco rok en –schoenen aanschaffen. Je haren draag je vast (bijvoorbeeld in een knot of staart).

Lesson Info: Lesimpressievideo Flamenco

Flamenco dance is a spirited dance form full of passion, pride, melancholy and fun. Classes focus on dazzling technique (such as rhythmic footwork and graceful hand movements), choreography and knowledge about the flamenco tradition. Flamenco originated from the culture of the Andalusians and that of the gitanos (the Spanish Roma). It is a fascinating art form, in which song, guitar and dance merge into a vibrant whole. You will find influences from different cultures, such as Indian and Arabic.

Clothing: During flamenco lessons you wear a long skirt, tight top and shoes with a solid heel (no stiletto). In consultation with the teacher you can purchase a flamenco skirt and shoes. Your hair should be tied back (e.g. in a bun or ponytail).
