About this lesson

Special Needs Dance comprises dance classes for people for whom regular dance classes are less suitable. Extra time, attention and space are provided to tailor the class to each participant.

The classes are suitable for people with autism, Down’s syndrome, an intellectual or physical disability, or any other support needs. The focus is not on reaching a specific level, but on enjoying exercise and personal development.

In a safe and positive environment, participants work on rhythm, coordination, body awareness, expression, connection and interaction. Everyone dances in a way that suits their own abilities and develops in their own way.

The classes are taught by Elisa Billy. She holds a degree in Dance Education from a university of applied sciences, has undertaken further training, and has been teaching this group with great enthusiasm for many years.
